Meadow Elementary School Student Recognized in National PTA’s Annual Art Competition
National PTA recently announced that Kayden Bramwell of Meadow Elementary School was among this year’s national winners for the Reflections student art program. The awards honor creative interpretations of the theme “I Belong!” in the following categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
Each year, the National PTA Reflections program engages more than 300,000 students at the local and state levels. Fewer than 1000 entries from 42 state PTAs advanced to the national level this year. After two rounds of further review, less than 250 student artists from across the country received either an Award of Excellence or Merit at the highest level of the competition. Kayden Bramwell was bestowed an “Award of Merit” in the Intermediate Division (Grades 3-5) and Visual Arts category for his work, “Made of My Moments.” Only 11 students from New York State received awards at the national level of the 2025-2026 Reflections Program, including Kayden.
“Our school community takes immense pride in fourth grader Kayden Bramwell for earning the National PTA Reflections Award,” stated Dr. Yolanda Martin, principal of Meadow Elementary School. “This prestigious recognition highlights exceptional creativity, dedication, and perseverance, and serves as an inspiring example of student excellence for all; and this is only the beginning!”
More than 50 Baldwin students from Brookside, Lenox, Meadow, and Plaza elementary schools took part in this year’s PTA Reflections program. Of them, twelve were named Nassau Region Finalists, with four advancing to the state-level competition and Kayden becoming a national award recipient. At the district’s April Board of Education meeting, each participant was recognized by their school’s PTA with a certificate.
The National PTA has been dedicated to promoting arts education for over 50 years through the PTA Reflections program. The initiative inspires students to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, fostering artistic literacy and confidence.
A virtual exhibit will be available by June 2026.
